Check The Reset Switch
TIP    1

TIP : If you notice water leakage from your garbage disposal, it is crucial to refrain from touching it and immediately seek the assistance of a professional plumber. Water leakage indicates a potential underlying problem that requires expert attention to avoid further damage. Please contact a plumber promptly to address the issue.

If no water leakage is present, you can troubleshoot the garbage disposal by checking the reset button. Typically located at the bottom of the unit, every garbage disposal has a reset button. Gently press the reset button to determine if it needs to be reset. You should feel the button push in. If the reset button engages and resets the garbage disposal, it should resume normal functioning. However, it's important to note that the tripping of the reset button may indicate an underlying issue, and in such cases, it is advisable to contact a plumber as the button may trip again.

At Anthony's Plumbing, we prioritize prompt and efficient service. We will take all necessary steps to accurately identify your situation and provide a timely solution. To schedule an appointment, please call 1-206-906-9279 or text 1-206-802-8037.

Check If The Motor Is Stuck
TIP   2

TIP 2 : In some cases, the motor of your garbage disposal may become stuck. If you hear the motor running when you activate the garbage disposal but there is no grinding action, it is possible that the motor is jammed. Follow these steps to address the issue:

  1. Ensure that the garbage disposal is switched off before proceeding. Safety is paramount.

  2. Examine the bottom of the garbage disposal unit, where you will find a designated area for a specialized tool called a disposal wrench. This tool is specifically designed to rotate the motor back and forth, dislodging any obstructions that may be preventing the blades from spinning. If you don't have a disposal wrench, you can utilize a flat head screwdriver or an appropriately sized Allen wrench as an alternative.

  3. Carefully rotate the motor using the disposal wrench, flat head screwdriver, or Allen wrench. If you sense something becoming dislodged, visually inspect the interior of the garbage disposal and remove the obstruction. Remember to ensure that the power is switched off before attempting any manual intervention.

If these steps fail to resolve the issue, it is advisable to contact Anthony's Plumbing at 1-206-906-9279 or text        1-206-802-8037 to schedule an appointment with our professionals. At Anthony's Plumbing, we are committed to taking all necessary measures to accurately diagnose your situation and rectify the problem promptly and efficiently.
